This dark blue, medium weight organic linen fabric in twill weave has the characteristic shimmer of natural linen. The warp is made of natural linen yarn, whereas the weft is blue black couloured linen yarn (GOTS). Its natural linen yarn is certified according to the Global Organic Textile Standard (GOTS). The two colored twill was produced according to the GOTS in Austria. The flax has been cultivated by organic farming in the coastal areas of France, Belgium and the Netherlands. The fabric is soft and beautifully flowing, and ideal for outerwear such as jackets and vests but also for pants, dresses, skirts, blouses and shirts or children’s clothing. It can be used equally well for home textiles such as soft tablecloths and curtains. When making bags, it is suitable both as outer fabric and lining. For additionally strengthening the seams, we recommend reinforcing this fabric with seam tape. Be aware that pure linen is still running quite a bit in the first wash, usually 3 to 5%. To determine exact shrinkage, we recommend washing sample pieces first. Linen fabric is best to be dried in shade. When washing, a mild detergent should be used with no optical brighteners, and the temperature should not be hotter than 40°C. “Linen likes to swim”. Therefore, when machine washing, make sure to only load half way, or two-thirds the max. This way, the linen will have enough water to clean thoroughly and not take damage.
